The Alliance for Person-Centered Care is a group of stakeholders with a common interest to incorporate person-centered care and the use of performance measures based on patient-reported data in clinical care and quality programs.
On this webinar, The Alliance publicly introduced itself for the first time. Dr. Sarah Hudson Scholle, Principal at Leavitt Partners, began the call by describing the background and motivations of The Alliance, which include a public commitment by CMS that at least 25 percent of the measures or scores in their quality program are based on measures that incorporate patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs).
Dr. Susannah Bernheim, Chief Quality Officer and Senior Advisor at the CMS Innovation Center (CMMI), then provided a brief overview of CMS’s interest in this issue space, including the focus on PROMs and quality at CMMI.
Several Alliance members then spoke about their personal and organizational interests in the Alliance, including Dave White, a patient advocate expert; Dr. Hilary Hatch, Chief Medical Officer at Phreesia; Dr. Mai Pham, President of the Institute for Exceptional Care (IEC); and Dr. Vaile Wright, Senior Director of Health Care Innovation at the American Psychological Association (APA).
Dr. Scholle then finished the webinar with a preview of The Alliance’s workplan, which includes deliverables in areas such as policy, data infrastructure, and implementation. She also invited all those interested in joining The Alliance to reach out for more information and shared both expectations and benefits of membership in The Alliance.
